We had a VERY successful weekend with the Princess Ball! We want to thank a few people this week, starting off with these lovely ladies who volunteered their time to help our princesses get ready for the ball. These are alumni of SCHS who are masters in their trades! Thank you to Jaida Bouvier and Vanessa Dick for supporting our school. Jaida does hair in Medicine Hat at Chamber's Salon and Vanessa works at Trix Studio in Oyen. Faye Carabbacan also did makeup, but was so quick we didn't snap a photo! #kindlehearts

Today was the Princess Ball at SCHS. A number of little Princesses showed up and had activities all day. They were lead by the graduating class of 2023 girls who were dressed up as Fairy Tale Princesses. Thank you to Mrs Molzan, Mrs Hauck, Mrs Hoffmann, Mrs Grover, Ms Moore and Prince Charming (Mr Bradshaw). #kindlehearts @prairierosesd8

The citrus fruit fundraiser is back. The basketball teams are selling boxes of oranges and grapefruits to help support Scorpion Athletics. SCHS and OPS students were lucky enough to have a dog herding presentation today at the Ag Building. Jollie Vermette from Ranch Dog Inc had her Border Collie dogs with her, and demonstrated how they can round up both sheep and cattle. Students were shown how the different voice and whistle commands are used to get the dog to listen to their leader. The presentation fits in with the book, A Dog’s Purpose, all students are reading. The presentation also fits in with the agriculture focus in both schools. Here we go! It's the day before the ball! Cinderella is so excited to come. She’s making sure she’s home before midnight tonight so she’s not too tired for tomorrow. She also tells me she has misplaced her slipper again. She’s really hoping you can help her find it tomorrow at the ball!

Thank you for all of your support Oyen & surrounding communities! We are SOLD OUT! All of the tickets have been mailed/sent out. This means if you think you have a ticket, but never got an invite, please contact the school. With the Princess Ball approaching fast, here is an explanation of some frequently asked questions. Q: Does my kid need to dress up? Yes! We would LOVE it if parents came dressed up too! Kids can come wearing their costumes or can get changed at the school. We do not have costumes to supply to the kids. Q: What will my child be doing? From 10-12 children will be participating in stations throughout the school. The kids have been divided into groups and will spend roughly 20 minutes at each station. Some stations will include: hair, makeup, and nails. The makeup station will be blush and eyeshadow. We have some play makeup here but you are more than welcome to bring your own if you are more comfortable with that. You can also do more makeup at home and we can add some glitter instead. The hair will also be minimal. If you want to do it at home, again, we can add sparkles and do touchups. 12-1: lunch in the gym. 1-2:30: movie in the gym. 2:30-3:30: group princess games. 3:30-4:00: crowning ceremony in the gym. Q: What is for lunch? We are doing a macaroni bar where the kids get to pick their toppings. This will be followed by a sundae bar. Adults will have soup and sandwich, as well as ice cream for dessert. There will also be an afternoon snack provided at 2. Q: Does my child need a water bottle? In doing our part for the environment, it would be awesome if your child brought a water bottle. We do have water fountains as well as plastic cups. Q: Which door do we drop off at? Please drop off your child at the gym doors. Be sure to come into the building to drop off your child. You will be asked to give emergency contact information at the door. #kindlehearts

There is no password or login required to access the form and it will take less than a minute to complete. The forms will be sent to the primary contact on file for the student. We ask that all parents complete the form for each of their children (you will receive a separate email for each) even if you are unsure of your plans for next year. Looking for something to do this weekend…come check out some Junior High Boy’s Basketball at their home tournament. SCHS plays on Friday at 2:45pm and Saturday at 8:30am.
