It’s GRAD WEEK! Even though this week looks much different than what we had all envisioned, we are trying to make the best of a challenging situation. ❤️🖤 SCHS is planning a drive-in ceremony that will take place on the school grounds on Friday, May 15. This is a closed event, only open to our graduates and their immediate family members. Details have been emailed to all parents. We are excited that we can be together to celebrate our graduates in this modified format! We will take LOTS of photos and we will share these special moments on our FB page afterwards! ❤️🖤 Following this ceremony, RCMP will lead Grads and their families in a parade around town (beginning at about 3:00 pm) if you’d like to show your support. A map of the parade route will be posted right here on our FB page & emailed out to grade 12 parents once it is confirmed. THANK YOU to our SCHS graduates and their parents who have been SO supportive during this unprecedented time!!! ❤️🖤

GRADUATES! Scholarship oportunities... South Country Co-op will be giving out ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating students at schools within our trading area. The deadline is May 31 (there's a possibility the date will be extended, due to the extenuating circumstances) This scholarship is based on community involvement and contributions, instead of grades, so we want as many kids as possible to know about this opportunity. Summer Work Experience: IMPORTANT NEWS! We will soon be getting the summer work experience program up and running. This program will be available for students who are currently in grade 10, 11, or 12 who are working at businesses or family farms. If a grade 9 student is interested they must first complete the HCS 3000 course. This means your child can collect credits even for working for you! The registration process will be starting immediately. Forms will be filled digitally as much as possible to respect physical distancing. A contract MUST be filled out with myself (Mrs. Molzan) for students to be registered. Celebrating SCHS Class of 2020 🎓 This amazing class has faced the challenges of remote learning in their final semester of high school, and we feel their sadness as a school formal ceremony is uncertain at this time...but, we are finding ways to celebrate them! There are a number of people who have been working extra hard behind the scenes to make sure these graduates feel special and loved, because they deserve it! Stay tuned throughout the month of May as we celebrate these students on our Facebook page, in our Newsletter, throughout the town of Oyen, in the Coffee Break (beginning in the May 5 issue) and in the Oyen Echo (May 15 issue).
